i love the “KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON” world war ii motivational posters (which apparently were never actually used), yet spawned dozens of spinoffs…here are two of my favorites:

i truly cannot comprehend how an acorn can become a tree. but more on my acorn obsession later.
because right now i’m completely captivated by tree rings.

Bryan Nash Gill's "Hemlock 82" print

dendrochronology
dendrochronology or tree-ring dating is the method of scientific dating based on the analysis of tree-ring growth patterns.
Chris Harrison made “digg rings” by visually representing the “most dugg” stories of the day for one year. i don’t really get it either but you can read about it here. but i dig the graphics he made:

i will always love retro psychedelic rock and movie posters.
but Tadanori Yokoo took it to a whole nutha level:

Emerson, Lake & Palmer concert poster, 1972

Movie poster: "The Trip" with Peter Fonda, 1968
i mean, how crazy are these? i love the how the registration is deliberately off, like in those turn-of-the-century offset screen prints or the WPA propaganda posters from the 30′s and 40′s.

"The Trip", 1968
[and is it just me or does the woman in this poster totally look like Marie-Louise Parker?]

"Cochin Moon", 1978
pretty sure they were done without Adobe Illustrator. this gives me hope.
