Talismanic Weaving Workshop April 29

Co-facilitated by Jaime Lee Cristiana and Rachael Rice

Saturday 4/29 1-4pm

$50* includes all supplies + light refreshments

Location: Inner southeast Portland near Reed College

We will give an intro to weaving on small looms of various types, including the cross loom that creates a folk-weaving “god’s eye” with an option to add elements that evoke intentions and your own deep personal magic. Rachael will guide you through some options and familiarize you with “warp” and “weft.”

Multi-artist Jaime Lee Christiana will demonstrate ways to create personal and unique Pom Pom Talisman. A talisman is a sacred object that is created for oneself, by ones own hand. She will offer a step by step guide on how to create dimensional ojo de dios weavings and delicious thick pom poms you’ll wanna just hug – as well as sacred placement. She will also demonstrate how to allow the process of art to be the guide versus achievement.

Together we will explore hilarious and authentic ways to create a sacred object (or two) just for you.

* this workshop is available for free / sliding scale to POC + marginalized folks for whom cost is prohibitive. Please contact us for more info:
