Malin Couture Witch Doll
Malin is a one-of-a-kind witch doll created from a very old, likely mid to late 1800’s doll in the German Low Brow style — known to be quite old because she is stuffed with sawdust! This is by far the oldest doll in this series.
She has been restored: reinforced joints, repairs to original clothing, etc. I have stamped her with heart tattoos. She is wearing her original stockings, pantaloons, and leather shoes (hand-dyed, hand-painted and adorned with matching jewelry). Her bodice has the original lace netting. She wears a hand-dyed and painted underskirt with a vintage hand-dyed mesh skirt on top and an antique velvet doll jacket. She wears a rhinestone chest button, necklace and a heart ring on her hand.
She has a black felt hat that can be affixed with a little Gorilla putty or tied on with the velvet ribbons. She has a little rose coin purse with its own purse charms, which can be detached. She wears a waist chain that matches her hat and bag full of poisonous and magical herbs.
She measures approx. 11.5” in length.
Please note that some of these these plants, while generally safe to handle for short periods of time (though it’s always safest to wear gloves), can cause serious harm and can even be deadly if ingested (by a small/vulnerable being). Keep away from children and pets. Poisonous plants can be removed by request, and they do come inside their own little dyed pouch.
Here is a listing of what is included in her portable apothecary (all grown organically by me as shown in the photo) and their properties:
Protection & Banishing

Lore:
Malin Matsdotter, called “Rumpare-Malin,” was a Finnish-born widow living in Stockholm who became one of the most tragic figures of Sweden’s witch panic. Accused during the 1676 Katarina trials of abducting children to the witches’ Sabbath at Blåkulla, she steadfastly refused to confess or repent. For that defiance, she was sentenced to be burned alive: an unusually harsh punishment, as most Swedish “witches” were beheaded first. Eyewitnesses said she went to the stake calmly, praying aloud as the flames rose. Her composure deeply unsettled the crowd and helped turn public opinion against the witch hunts. After her death, the hysteria collapsed, and within a year the Great Noise had ended. Malin Matsdotter is remembered as one of the last people executed for witchcraft in Sweden.
Lineage:
Plants are grown by me and are incorporated in accordance with my own ancestral traditions, especially from the documents in the Svartkonstböcker: A Compendium of the Swedish Black Art Book Tradition. However, most of these plants had ritual and magical uses across Old Europe and beyond. Feel free to add herbs, stones, talismans, etc. of your own.
Care:
This doll is in good but fragile condition consistent with her advanced age; she has been hand-restored and is for display not play. Do not get her or her clothing wet, and keep out of direct sunlight. Her price absolutely does not reflect the number of hours it has taken to create her, and she is heirloom-quality.
Legal:
