Vintage 1960s Mint Green Peignoir Set – Sheer Nylon Robe and Nightgown with Lace and Embroidered Butterfly
Adorable vintage 1960s mint green Van Raalte peignoir set, featuring a sheer nylon two-layer robe and matching double-layer nightgown. The robe is beautifully detailed with delicate ivory floral lace along the collar and sleeve cuffs, and fastens with pearlescent buttons. The coordinating nightgown has a more opaque/semi-sheer layer and a sheer layer over top that features intricate lace trim and embroidered butterfly accent at the bust.
Made from lightweight nylon, this vintage lingerie set is perfect for sleep, snuggling, bridal boudoir, vintage-inspired photo shoots, catching the sun behind your silhouette, special occasions, or simply lounging in luxury. Before there was Selkie, there were peignoirs.
A pastel dream!
Very small hole at the bottom of the nightgown and one small part where the hem has unrolled, consistent with vintage lingerie, completely unnoticeable upon wear.
Otherwise outstanding vintage condition.
Tagged size small: 17” pit to pit, 19” bust lying flat.
For the nerds:
peignoir (n.)
"lady's loose robe," 1835, from French peignoir, from Middle French peignouoir "loose, washable garment worn over the shoulders while combing the hair" (16c.), from peigner "to comb the hair," from Latin pectinare, from pecten "a comb," related to pectere "to comb.” A gown put on on while coming from the bath; misapplied in English to a woman's morning gown.
